The United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force is actively searching for the location of fugitive, Diego Barrera, 21.
Barrera is described as a Hispanic male, 5’5 ft. in height, weighing approximately 170 lbs. Barrera is wanted for Capital Murder by the Montgomery Police Department. Barrera was developed as a suspect in the shooting death of Carlos Jones, 39.
On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Montgomery Patrol Units and medics responded to the 1700 block of Upper Wetumpka Road in reference to a subject shot. Upon arrival, the victim, black male, Carlos Jones, 39 YOA, of Montgomery was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Investigators are acting swiftly to locate Barrera. In an effort to ensure Barrera is located in a timely manner, CrimeStoppers is increasing its cash reward for the apprehension of Barrera. Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering a $2,500.00 cash reward for information that leads law enforcement to Barrera’s current whereabouts and his arrest.
