Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright Proclaims January CrimeStoppers
Month. |
Executive Director of Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, Susan Moss, says
the most exciting thing about the 2004 statistics is the increase in tips
that stopped and/or prevented crimes at school. “We solved 36 cases and
paid $3,560 in reward money to students who came forward with information
about drugs, weapons, and other criminal activity on school grounds. In
2003, we solved 16 scholastic cases and paid $1,450 in reward money. I
think students are realizing that scholastic crimestoppers’ anonymous
crime reporting system is a great way for them to take an active role in
stopping crime at their school. It is also a safe outlet for them to
report criminal activity because we keep their identity a secret.”
