Montgomery Area Crime Fighters Recognized for their Hard Work in
Stopping Crime
(Oct. 29, 2003) - Central Alabama CrimeStoppers paid tribute to their Board of Directors, local citizens, businesses, and Law Enforcement Agencies for their efforts is stopping crime in the community. More than 60 people attended CrimeStoppers Annual Board Member Luncheon October 29 at WSFA TV.
Honored at the event was Lt. Huey Thornton of Montgomery Police Department. Lt. Thornton was awarded the CrimeStopper Officer of the Year Award.
Dr. David Bronner, C.E.O. Retirement Systems of Alabama, was given the CrimeStopper Award of Excellence for his help with the CrimeStopper's Annual Golf Tournament.
Morgan Keegan and WSFA TV were both presented with Awards of Appreciation for their dedication and support to the crime fighting organization. Outstanding Scholastic Award went to
Janet Reese of Georgia Washington Jr. High School. Board members Cpl. Tony Garrett
of Montgomery Police Department and Aisha McGough were both honored as the 2003 CrimeStopper Board Members of the Year.
Also recognized at the luncheon were new Board of Director members Tracy
Donahue, Max Federal Credit Union; Rita Griffin, Delta Airlines;
Douglas Jones, Montgomery Chamber of Commerce; Rod Jones, Aliant Bank;
Chuck Milner, Russell Corporation; Keysha Perry, WSFA TV; and
Mark Pierce, Alfa Realty.
Arlam Carr, Jr., Aisha McGough, Debbi Kawzinski, Sue
O'Neill, and Hank Schmitt were given Certificates of Appreciation for serving on the CrimeStopper's Board of Directors for the last three years.
Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is a non-profit organization that assists local law enforcement by offering anonymity and cash rewards to the public for information that helps solve crimes in Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore Counties. Since 1997, CrimeStoppers has paid anonymous tipsters $7,230 in cash rewards. Tips to 215-STOP hotline have led to the arrest of 225 wanted criminals and cleared 344 cases.
