D.C. Snipers Linked to Montgomery Murder

(Oct. 25, 2002) - On Saturday, September 21, two female employees were shot at the ABC Store on Zelda Road in what police describe as a "robbery gone bad." One of the women, 52 year-old Claudine Parker, died from her injuries.

Sniper suspects John Lee Malvo, left, and John Allen Muhammad

Montgomery Police say the two suspects in the series of sniper shootings in the Washington, D.C. area have been charged with capital murder in the Montgomery crime.

John Allen Muhammad, 41, and John Lee Malvo, 17 are now in federal custody. They face multiple murder charges that could result in death sentences, depending on where they are finally tried.

Ten people were killed and four others wounded in the Washington-area shootings. In addition to the Zelda Road ABC store murder, the two have also been charged in a fatal shooting in Louisiana, in which the victim was also shot and robbed after closing up a business.
